Woodworm season is in full swing. Now is the time to stay alert to the presence of wood-damaging insects. Do you recognise the signs?
🔸Small, round exit holes in wood
🔸Fine wood dust (frass) on the floor
🔸Emerging beetles
🔸A dull sound when tapping the wood
These signs may indicate active woodworm or longhorn beetle infestation. Acting quickly can prevent further damage to structural timber or floorboards.
Various treatment methods are available for infestations in processed wood. One of these is fumigation. The affected building is completely sealed with gas-tight tarpaulins, after which the 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐮𝐫𝐲𝐥 𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 is introduced to effectively eliminate the wood-boring insects.

From this autumn onwards, the use of this biocide will no longer be permitted in residential applications. At present, this restriction applies only to private homes. For listed buildings or other heritage structures, it is still being considered whether use will remain permitted.
Better safe than sorry: Do you suspect a wood-damaging insect infestation and would you like to take advantage of the thorough and effective fumigation treatment with sulfuryl fluoride while it’s still allowed?
